Summer by the Beach

With the coast on the doorstep, students take part in beach volleyball, sand sculpture competitions, and scenic walks along the shoreline. These activities are designed to encourage communication, teamwork, and natural use of English outside the classroom.

Drumming Circle

Students can also join our free drumming sessions, playing djembe drums and percussion instruments. These lively workshops encourage creativity, collaboration, and cultural exchange, making them one of the highlights of the St Lawrence programme.

St Lawrence Homestay

For those who want a balance of college life and family immersion, the St Lawrence Homestay option combines the structure of campus-based lessons and activities with the warmth of living with a local host family.

• Most families are within a 20-minute walk (a £15/week bus pass may be required)

Courses Overview

Our summer English courses at St Lawrence are theme-based, helping students gain fluency, build confidence, and practise their English in meaningful contexts.

• Six levels available, from A1 to C2
• Placement testing on arrival to ensure the right level
• 15 hours of English tuition per week, taught by qualified teachers
• Zig-zag timetable: students alternate between morning lessons and afternoon activities one week, and reverse the schedule the next, keeping the programme varied and engaging
• Lessons focus on vocabulary, listening, speaking, and practical communication
• Project work encourages creativity, teamwork, and exploration of British culture
• All students receive a certificate of completion

One half-day excursion to Canterbury or Margate

One full-day excursion each week to London or Oxford/Cambridge
